Sick Baby

Wyatt hasn't been able to keep much down today. The poor guy doesn't deserve to be sick.

First Step

Last night, while at the Greenwalt grandparents house, Wyatt took his first step. He wasn't necessarily aware of it, as he was desperately trying to take the lid from a wooden bowl from his mother.

Birthday Party

Incredible Pizza is a popular venue for birthday parties. Forest and Wyatt enjoyed good food and loud machines with family and friends last night. Here is an image taken from a video of Wyatt on one of the rides.

10 MONTHS OLD

Pulling Himself Up That Far?

Hunter snapped this picture. Regina & I are skeptical that Wyatt got to this position on his own, but Hunter insists that he did.

Brother to the Rescue

Wyatt found a stray Lego piece way underneath the armoire yesterday afternoon. His brothers were in the living room while mama was in another part of the house for only a minute. Forest, 7, saw Wyatt put the Lego into his mouth. Forest leapt up from the couch and proceeded to save his baby brother from disaster. Wyatt simultaneously resisted and gagged on the small plastic toy. Forest's intruding fingers caused his brother to throw up. The Lego piece shot out, along with icky baby food and milk. Mama came back in the room right as the boys started worrying about the mess that had been made on the floor. Hunter told her what had just happened and she was not worried about the mess at all. Regina texted me about Forest's heroic actions. I promptly called home and loaded lots of praise upon my middle son for saving his baby brother. As reward for his actions, I told Forest that he would have dinner at his favorite restaurant – Fuji Japanese steakhouse.

Booty Scooting

Went doesn't crawl yet, but he does get around on his bottom. He scoots, scoots, scoots. And, as you can see, he likes to get into stuff.

First Bicycle Ride

Wyatt had his first bicycle ride today. I attached the childseat to my two wheeled contraption. If you are wondering about his helmet, yes, he did wear a helmet. Safety safety safety. In the background of the picture, you may notice a garage sale sign and mannequins. My brother, Mark, is holding a garage sale on my driveway. Regina is simultaneously trying to get rid of her artwork from last year's fair.

Sitting Up From a Laying Position

Wyatts skills continue to develop. He is able to bring himself up to a sitting position from being flat on his back.

8 Months & almost teething

Wyatt is eight months old today. There is a hard bump on the bottom gum line of his mouth. That tooth should be poking out pretty soon.
One more development: he recently started rising to a sitting position on his own.

HE EATS FOR DADDY

He likes the tube of carrots, apples & parsnips we've been feeding him.

CURIOUS ABOUT FOOD

Wyatt is showing interest in actual food, not just mamas milk. This afternoon, I let him a lick at my French toast, eggs, hashbrowns and cup of orange juice. In the picture below, he grabbed at his mama's hamburger onion. He didn't wince, which surprised us very much.

SMILES FOR GOOD REASONS

Wyatt went on a road trip the other day, which included a stop in Wellston Oklahoma, to be reunited with his brothers. Forest & Hunter had been in Oklahoma the prior 4 days, with their Greenwalt grandparents during Spring Break.

FIRST OVERNIGHT AT A HOTEL

Our family stayed at the Holiday Inn in Joplin Missouri a couple of nights ago. My truck had a scheduled repair appointment at Freightliner, just half a mile away. Wyatt's older two brothers live for staying at hotels. There are lots of fun things for kids to do.

MIGHT BE ROLLING OVER SOON

Wyatt is developing his ability to control his trunk. He expresses a desire to sit up on his own and now he is seeming to approach the ability to turn over by himself.

LEARNING TO GRAB

Wyatt is learning how to use his arms and fingers. He is starting to effectively grab at the phone when it is in front of him.

MEDICAL INSURANCE

I just added Wyatt to the family medical policy. His coverage will become affective April 1. It frustrates me that they make him wait. He wasn't covered until now because I had unintentionally missed the 30 day life-event window. You'd think it would occur to them that since his mother was in the hospital to have a BABY, there would probably be a BABY who needs immediate coverage. Bureaucracies seldom employ common sense or efficiency.

LEARNING HOW TO USE THOSE HANDS

Wyatt slapped at the overhead toys today. He seemed to have intention & some coordination. We were delighted to see another "first" from him. Here is a still image of a video Regina made today.

LAUGHING

Wyatt smiles a lot; now he's starting to genuinely laugh. This picture is a still-shot of video from yesterday. Hunter was was clapping & making silly sounds, causing Wyatt to laugh a lot.

GOING TO WORK WITH MAMA

Wyatt is allowed to go to work with his mama. Regina has an easy-going boss. She works in the office at a mini storage complex. This picture was taken the last week of December.
